FIGHT NIGHT

THINK YOU CAN GO THREE ROUNDS?

western university Fight Night is about creating something bigger than just one night of boxing.

Our goal is to build this into an annual Western student Fight Night — an event where students can challenge themselves, represent their clubs, faculties and communities, support charitable causes, and put on an incredible show in front of their friends and peers.

Earlier this year, we tested the concept by having four Western students compete against one another on one of our boxing events.

They had approximately three months to train and prepare, while still balancing school, student clubs, work and their regular lives.

The result was incredible.

The student matchups ended up being some of the most exciting and talked-about fights on the entire card. Their friends, classmates and fellow students came out to support them, and it showed us how special a student-focused Fight Night could become.

Now we want to take that idea and build something specifically for Western students.

Selected fighters will have the opportunity to:

  • Train and prepare for an amateur boxing competition

  • Represent their faculty, club, student organization or community

  • Compete in front of friends, classmates and fellow Western students

  • Challenge themselves physically and mentally

  • Balance training alongside school and their other commitments

  • Build relationships with other students throughout the training camp

  • Help support charitable causes, with a portion of the event supporting charity

  • Participate in fighter announcements, interviews and promotional content

  • Experience walking out and competing in front of a live crowd

The commitment

You do not need to already be an experienced boxer to apply.

We’re looking for Western students who have personality, commitment and a willingness to learn. The students who participated previously trained for approximately three months while still managing school, clubs and their other responsibilities.

Selected participants will be expected to take training seriously, attend consistently, listen to their coaches and properly prepare for competition.

No experience? You can still apply. Already have boxing or combat-sports experience? We want to hear from you too.

Submitting an application does not guarantee that someone will be selected or matched. Matchups will take into consideration things like experience, weight, preparation and applicable competition/safety requirements.
